Overnight Refrigerator Oatmeal

I'm not sure if you've noticed but I like when food preparation is easy. Crockpots are my favorite because you dump, stir and leave it to make my house smell good. If a recipe says "brown the meat" or "saute the veggies" I either go to the next pin on Pinterest or see what happens if I don't follow that direction. 

Something else you might not know about me is that I am NOT a morning person. I'm up until way too late every night because it's my only time by myself that I'm not trying to clean/cook/keep my head on straight! I've always been that way though, needing to finish books as a kid, then just reading the first few pages of the next which then turned into chapters.

When you take these two traits of mine you can guess that my breakfast skills are lacking. I can make a mean breakfast for lunch or dinner but ask me to make it first thing in the morning and you will be sorely disappointed! Our household is big on waffles, yogurt and muffins since they can all be prepared ahead of time and easily consumed while I caffeinate myself!

Maya has been a huge fan of oatmeal ever since I can remember. She ate it cold with honey and milk and, yes, even putting those things together pre-tea was a stretch. After a pinterest revelation I discovered the idea of overnight oatmeal. Basically you put the ingredients in a container, put it in the refrigerator and eat it the morning, heating optional!

I actually put the dry ingredients in individual mason jars in my pantry so all I have to do is add the milk and fruit/flavoring so it's easy to prepare! 
Overnight Refrigerator Oatmeal
(per cup)
1/2 cup rolled oats
2T chia seeds
dash of cinnamon
1 cup of milk
1T pumpkin butter (or flavoring or fruit of your choice)

Mix all the ingredients together and place in the refrigerator overnight. 

If you are making extra to store put the oats, chia seeds and cinnamon into an airtight container. When you're ready to prepare it add the milk and flavoring and place in the refrigerator overnight.
